Dr Dona Tilani Perera
Dr Perera began her medical career in Sri Lanka, where she worked as a medical officer in ophthalmology for seven years. During this time, she performed extraocular surgeries and retinal laser treatments.
Since relocating to Australia in 2017, Dr Perera has worked at Bloomfield Hospital in Orange as a CMO in psychiatry, across both acute and long-term rehabilitation wards. It was here that her passion for psychiatry developed. After transitioning into General Practice, she has continued to support patients with mental illness in the community, working closely with psychiatrists and community mental health teams. Alongside her general practice work, Dr. Perera has maintained and further developed her procedural skills, undertaking additional training in skin cancer medicine and surgery. She is highly skilled in performing skin checks and skin cancer procedures.
Dr. Perera is particularly passionate about women’s health, including antenatal and postnatal care, as well as contraception services such as Implanon insertion and removal, and IUD insertion and removal. As a mother of three, she also has a strong interest in pediatric care.
Outside of work, Dr. Perera enjoys singing, playing the piano, and cooking. She describes herself as an “exploratory cook,” with a love for preparing both Sri Lankan and international cuisines.
